About Me - Jordan
This is a first for me so if I waffle forgive me! Obviously this blog is the brain child of my better half Andrea with the added help of her cousin Tom.
I will be making the odd input on the odd occasion. My subjects of choice are Empires in general to name a few, The Roman Empire (Western and Eastern empire), Mongolian Empire, Byzantine Empire. Also a more specific time period involves The Greek Peloponnesian war. I also have some interest in the Japanese Shogun wars but I have yet to research enough into the subject to have a good idea on it.
A new interest is in the Viking age, I'm learning very quickly but taking everything with a pinch of salt due to most of the sources being written by those pesky Christian monks hundreds of years after the fact! Me and Tom have this subject in common so will learning a lot from each other. Apart from that I'll leave the heavy stuff to Andrea and Tom.
Since being with Andrea for the past year she has taken me to a handful of places before the pandemic set in. She has also tried to teach me more about the time periods that she knows all about. So much so that I can identify a Tudor building by its chimneys!
My interest in history started back in school as it did for most people. In junior school we covered the Romans in Britain and then progressed to the Empire in general. I loved how they wielded and utilised that much power and organisation in such a efficient way to form the biggest empire the world had ever seen for the time! My interest then spanned from there learning about the Medieval period and the Shogan wars which intern funneled me towards the Byzantine and Mongolian Empires.
Over the years I have done a bit of studying to learn more about what was going on in with the history that I enjoy. I have recently been listening to a Viking age podcast that I found very informative and now need to find more to listen to. Again like Andrea and Tom I have the same music taste, but haven't seen as many bands as they have. I'm a heavy gamer and play many different genres of games some including Assassin's Creed, The witcher series, Mass Effect series, Dragon Age series, Stelaris, Hearts of Iron 4, Rimworld, Prison Architect and many many others.
I am currently playing the AC Vallaha but I have found a few things that don't add up to history, but they can be forgiven to make a fun game. So I'll hand back over the Andrea and Tom as they start to properly Wandering Through The Ages.
